Advantages of Traveling By Train
One of the key advantages of traveling by train is that trains are the safest means of transportation available
today.
This is especially important for those who have a fear of flying or cruising, and therefore prefer traveling on
solid ground. When you travel by train, you get to avoid suffering from jet lag, or bumpy rides on the road by bus,
which is especially ideal if you are traveling with children or for senior passengers. Moreover, trains rarely
experience delays due to bad weather which is also a common cause of road and traffic accidents. When you choose to
take the train, you are making a conscious decision not to drive – which is an advantage in itself. This means that
when you get to your destination, you will be much less tired than you would be if you had been driving all the
way. You can also have a drink on your train journey, which would be illegal to do while driving.
For the modern business traveler, or even just anyone who owns a cell phone, you have most likely been irritated at
one time or another at not being able to use your phone while on the plane. The good news is that you can use your
cell phone anytime you want while on your train, without any restrictions. Another key convenience that a train has
over an airplane is that on a train, you get to have a comfortable seat with adequate legroom, as well as a
corridor on which you can move around freely and stretch your legs. You can even take a walk to the vestibules for
a breath of fresh air. If you were traveling by plane or car, you would have a hard time sleeping as it is even
difficult to lie down. On the other hand, the sleepers in the train cars enable you to lie down comfortably and
have a good night’s rest.
On a train, you can easily meet new people and make new friends. This is great for those who enjoy socializing. On
the other hand, if you want some quiet alone time, you can instead focus on the landscapes as they go by, and enjoy
scenes along off beaten paths and routes which are not easily accessible by car or on foot. Moreover, there are
some holiday trains which will slow down at the most scenic spots on your journey to enable you to take in the
sights as well as some photos through wide viewing windows.
Some trains even come with guides who provide commentaries on the various scenic spots along the route.
It is easy to travel into large cities around the world via train. This is because you get to avoid having to deal
with traffic jams, or even the hassles of having to find parking for your car. Trains are the better options to
long distance travel, than airplanes – and especially for those who do not enjoy flying, or the turbulence that
accompanies air travel.
